New CCBAC Correspondence and Press Releases

25,000 families in British Columbia are having their livelihoods impacted by the beetle infestation.

CCBAC is about understanding how the communities that are at the center of this issue are challenged by the MPB epidemic. Everyone acknowledges the concern that this MPB epidemic is a significant challenge, perhaps the greatest ever for these communities. CCBAC is about addressing these challenges to ensure that these communities not only survive, but survive and prosper during and after the MPB epidemic. CCBAC is confident that throughout and after this natural MPB epidemic, that CCBAC and our communities will work hard to deal with the epidemic impacts, growing and prospering as we do so.

CCBAC was formed by drawing on proven community cooperation and spirit to work with government in addressing the significant threat posed by the beetle.

CCBAC MISSION STATEMENT

To develop a coalition that will be effective with government regarding the mountain pine beetle epidemic and the future of our communities. To ensure that our communities are economically stable, that there are jobs in all sectors, and support the entrepreneurial spirit that is fundamental to the Cariboo-Chilcotin lifestyle.

CCBAC believes it is essential to bring together natural resource managers and economic development expertise to minimize the potential economic impacts of the beetle epidemic, and to make the best of the ensuing opportunities. As such, the Coalition proposes the establishment of a Pine Beetle Fund.
